City Gravel Ride
Ride Details:
This ride offers a variety of riding surfaces including gravel, dirt, turf, and of course some paving. While experience is not necessary, a properly prepared bike is needed. A gravel or trail bike with 38mm+ wide tubeless tires & sealant highly recommended. Note that there are some spots of large (3”+) rocks that will be avoided by picking a keen line.
The ride will start from Houndstooth Coffee shop. Come early for coffee as desired; note that there are also a few lunch/brunch options in this development for post ride.
The route is a basic loop within the Trinity River basin plus an optional out and back along the north levee. This should make for a reasonably easy gravel ride of 20 to 25 miles over a two to three hours, depending on speed desires and comfort of the group. However, as with any off-pavement route, the actual path is subject to the road conditions on the day of the ride.
Distance: 20 to 25 miles
Pace: 8-15 mph, depending on surface; 12+ mph average
Hills: Some levee ramps
Breaks: As needed; however, there will be NO C-Store stop.
Drops: Never
Leader: Yes
