Greetings fellow GDB members! The Saturday morning airport ride is back…with a different format.
During the COVID-19 cancellation of rides, a few of us who live close to the ride start continued to do our own thing – under our own rules. We kept it under a group of 10 and the route rotated between several routes. We all agreed this was a nice change of pace. We will continue doing a route change as we start the group back up.
All rides will begin at 9am unless otherwise noted. The first Saturday of the month will be the standard GDB airport loop, starting from the SW parking lot of Preston/Forest. All other Saturdays, the route and start location will vary. I will provide a ridewithgps.com link to the route for all registered riders as long as I have an email address for you.
This Saturday, I have a variation of the GDB airport loop. The mileage will be roughly the same as the original loop. The average speed of the ride will remain between the 16-17mph with rolling speeds around 22-25mph. This is a no drop ride allowing for the standard mechanicals and light separations. There will be sprint zones.
When we’ve done these rides during the C-19 lockdown, we’ve averaged around 16. We have been a bit more “conversational” on these rides, and had a lot more fun! Since this is the first ride after lockdown, let’s meet for lunch at the Velvet Taco near the start of the ride.
The usual GDB C-19 modifications apply to the Saturday morning ride:
1. Group size is limited to 10 members per week.
2. Registration is required through each week's calendar event and will be closed once it reaches 10 participants.
3. If the 10 person limit is reached, join the waiting list. If there are enough people for a second group, we'll create a new event as a separate group with a second leader.
4. Anyone who arrives at the start who has not registered for that week will not be allowed to ride.
5. Registrations are limited to members only at this time.
6. The registration process will include the standard GDB ride waiver as well as a new Covid-19 waiver. Both need to be signed each week during registration in order to ride.
7. Please DO NOT RIDE if you have tested positive for Covid-19 or if you feel sick!
8. Masks are not required while riding but are required at rest stops.
